Richard Lawler

Richardinwardbound 046 was first introduced to the Pilates method through his many years of experience and involvement with marching band and drum and bugle corps. In both of those activities the Pilates principles and goals, such as centered breathing, balance, having a lengthened and lifted body, active mental awareness and good proprioception, were very important. In 2003 Richard graduated with a B.A. in history from the University of Houston. In 2004, following graduation, Richard relocated to Ashland. While exploring post-marching band activities to maintain physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle he attended Pilates classes. Almost immediately Richard realized this was what he needed and shortly thereafter pursued teacher training. Richard’s involvement with Inward Bound Wellness began in May of 2006. Richard completed the teacher training program at the highly regarded Pilates Center of Boulder where he received instruction form third generation instructors Amy Taylor Alpers and Rachel Taylor Segel while studying directly under Celina Dominguez at Inward Bound Wellness. Richard is committed to teaching classical Pilates while allowing for non-classical techniques that inform the fundamental Pilates principles
