Chris Howell MA HHC - Holistic Therapist
Chris is originally from the east coast and has lived and studied yoga in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Massachusetts. Having a dance background, Chris was naturally drawn to yoga for the movement. Once she began her asana practice, her fascination with yoga grew much deeper. She began to read every book she could get her hands on that referred to yoga. One life changing book she read was by Stephen Cope, “Yoga: Quest for the True Self”. This book brought her to Kripalu Yoga Center in Lenox MA, where she lived and studied for several months. During this time Chris found her fellow sangha members Celina, Steve and Kat of Inward Bound Wellness. Her style of teaching incorporates Kripalu style, anusara principles and the philosophy of the Yoga sutras of Patanjali.
Chris was also drawn to the philosophy of yoga, due to the correlation between yoga and psychology. Chris received her masters degree in psychology from the University of Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia PA. She had a private practice in Doylestown PA, before coming to Ashland Oregon. Chris has worked with families, individuals, groups and couples. She has incorporated her knowledge of yoga into her psychology background.
Chris received her training as a holistic health counselor from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York City. She focuses on whole foods and how they can heal the body. Chris also teaches the balance of the energetics of food. She believes it is essential to understand the connection between food and the body.
Chris decided to combine her knowledge of psychology, nutrition and spirituality as a holistic therapist. This decision came to her when she realized working with the mind alone was not enough to bring people to their highest potential. Chris is very enthusiastic to share her passion with her new Ashland community. The moment Chris arrived in Ashland, she knew she was home.
